Kayaking The Mighty River Tees - Source to Sea
Kayaking The Mighty River Tees - Source to Sea
The river Tees is one of the finest kayaking rivers in the UK, with everything on offer from very challenging white water to mellow scenic cruising with a bit of interesting industrial landscape thrown in for good measure.
This is the story of my navigable source to sea journey, with only two very short portages.

Just watched and another great adventure 😊
Thank you😁
After a windy paddle myself today this full film was a nice way to end my night, very much enjoyed watching and a great film, Loved the route with the mountains close by. 😊
A great adventure and well made film. What’s tent are you using? I love kayak camping and making a good adventure film too.
@@jujujay thanks, it's a Berghaus Cairngorm 2, I really rate it for usable space
@@getwet501 ah thanks I’ll look them up as I’ve used the same one over 30 years now! Never seen a better one!
June 2024. 3m-4m metre troughs driven by 30mph winds for us 2 weeks go in the Sound of Barra! Soup exited the pot. The pot was on a mother ship! We didn’t paddle.
@@josephinebennington7247 sounds a bit wild!!!
@@getwet501 Very. Although 4 dolphins still made a game of it, off our bows.
well done on the solo adventure dude. nice film and YES i hear ya on the solo kayak camping. I also do lots of solo camps and i've taking some friends but its always more fun solo...
Thank you, and yes I agree😆
I keep watching your videos. I'm very new to sea kayaking so this is providing a lot of inspiration.
Excellent, I'm pleased to be of asstance😁 I'm relatively new to it, 7 years, but I've been white water kayaking for over 30.
What an amazing trip, beautifully filmed. Congratulations to you 👏👏
Thank you😄
Another fabulous expedition captured superbly. Thanks for sharing and inspiring us. I appreciate the detail that allows me to watch this on the TV whilst tracing the route on the OS maps on my phone, finding each campsite, beach, gully and arch as you progress.
Thank you, pleased your enjoyed and made more of it than just a casual watch. You can probably do the same with all my recent content. 😁
This is beautiful Bob, thanks for sharing
Thank you, pleased you enjoyed it😁😁😁
Gorgeous movie. Thank you.
Thank you very much😁
Nice video, congratulations
Thank you😀

Thank you... yes indeed😁😁😁😁
That's some serious stuff, scary
Thanks.... but it's fun😁
Enjoyed that Bob
Thanks Bill😁
An amazing video Bob, it has been a very long time in the making......worth the wait
Thanks, yea it's taken a while 🤣
Great video Bob! I’ve paddled it many times over the years ❤
Thanks, you've paddled it. What, all of it? 😮
@@getwet501 certainly not all of it 🤣
Amazing solo video and love your calm voice throughout the film. 5 stars
Thank you very much😁😁
Oh wow! Not only a great achievement but also amazing skills! Thank you for sharing. You're an expert paddler and I'm happy I'm here to watch your adventures. 🤟
Thank you so much, very kind comments😁
Great video. Tees certainly has plenty of variety on offer.
Thank you😁
Music too loud and drowning your audio....
Thanks, yea I agree. Getting the balance right is tricky. Also, it sounds very different on different devices, which doesn't help! It's fine on my PC, but not on my phone
What amazing trips from Source to Sea. That tumble down the last few feet of the the Water fall must have smarted a bit? I have tried what was meant to be white water in a touring boat from Daly Bridge to Matlock as a total novice and That was a baptism of fire for me. Not put me off, but the speed that some of the water was flowing to someone like me is mind blowing. That was part of a Leadership Assessment weekend, and I was a Guinea Pig to be lead. Was meant to be up grade 2, but heavy rain had other ideas. Wet exits twice and one was pinning my boat between me and a small tree. That was fun, but lots of shouting from the bank, as I was having fun trying to free my boat and them swim to the bank. Will try it again at some point but in a boat more suited to the water. Brilliant video as ever Bob.
Thank you.... yea, I got a few bruises on Cauldron Snout, bit nothing too serious, I got lucky😁
That was fabulous Robert - well done and thank you. Delighted Luna’s Paradise featured too 👌
Thanks Norman😁
Intense video! Great stuff and Great skills!
Thank you😁
Wow, where to start. What a bloody fantastic video with some awesome footage. I really liked the flashback stuff too, like watching you head down that huge fall, what a great job you did very impressive, but when you flipped at the end it looked like you hit your head bloody hard. Thumbs-up to the safety guy watching because he was straight in and heading over to you. Your skill level is very impressive watching you hit the waves, but your mate wins the gold for sitting there with his paddle under his chin. But you also win a Gold for that long skid into the river at the beginning 👍 This really was a great to watch video and I intend to watch it again.
Many thanks, I had fun making it too.... I got lucky on Cauldron Snot, my head missed the rocks!
👍
👍 thanks
Hi Bob, Peter here from Queensland, Aus. I am a great fan of your videos and the west coast of Scotland from a kayakers view point is superbly presented. I particularly enjoy your gentle and informative commenrtary. This trip was still a great adventure irrespective of the weather. As they say...no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing. Thanks again for highlighting the amazing kayaking nirvana of the Scottish inner Hebrides.
Thank you very much😁
Fantastic video and adventure
what fantastic memories you must have to take with you
Thank you Philip, yes there are some great memories, and more to come I'm sure😁
Hello Bob! A really epic Kajakadventure! Super nice pictures, wonderful music and a very good story-teller! And the best thing is: I can understand even though my English is so bad. I love that Paddling- Film! Always good luck and a little spirit of freedom, Thomas from Germany
Many thanks, Thomas😁 check out my other videos, lots more of a similar style.
정말 아름답고, 경이로운 풍경입니다. 아름다운 영상을 좋은 음악과 함께 잘 봤습니다. Thank you, Nice paddler!

Hi Bob from another Bob Evans in British Columbia (Campbell River) great video and commentary
Thanks very much Bob Evans 😅
where in Harris is this?
Great exploration trip Bob thanks for taking us with you again ❤
Thank you 😁
Great video, I love that the lightouse painters let you up to the top
Thank you. Yes I was cheeky enough to ask, and they seemed very happy to oblige 😁
There's so much I could say about this video, but I can sum it up with one word Fantastic. Such an amazing paddle with lots of beautiful views and great information too. You're so lucky to get to see that aircraft carrier so close, and the ferry was awesome to see up close too. Very nice of them workmen to let you have a look around the lighthouse that was very interesting. All the way through the video I was thinking where's the seal's and just as I had given up One popped up to say hi. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Well, thank you so much for the kind words. Yea there was a shortage of seals this time, usually there are more in this area
Hi Bob, Peter here from Aus. I am an avid follower of your adventures. I particularly like the way you use a single camera to great effect. I appreciate the fact that you are happy to kayak solo on some of your adventures. I know how difficult it is to find paddles buddies after retirement. Mostly they are doing anything but participating in ""risky"adventures"". Loved seeing the Firth of Forth bridge from your angle. A beautiful structure I have only observed via Michael Portillo's rail journeys. Thanks so much for the opportunity to see more of the kayaking destination of my dreams. Scotland, and in particular the inner Hebrides.
Hi Peter, thanks for the kind comments. Sometimes I prefer to Kayak solo, sea kayakers can be a very strange bunch🤣 I have to agree, the Hebrides, both inner and outer are amazing
Great video, you have so much history over there. Those bridges are impressive.
Thanks, yea its an impressive area tp paddle
Bob, who is playing the guitar?
Not sure, which section are you refereing to? I can check
@@robertevans7801 no it's ok, I thought it might have been you. Some good guitar in it
@@radleytube Not this time, my guitar playing isnt that good🤣
Another great video Bob. I have yet to go over the New Bridge, as the last time I went over the Fourth was when the Queensferry Bridge was being built. We were stopped in traffic and could see them bringing in a span of the bridge. Sadly wasn't there long enough to see it put into position. I did try last year to go over it, but cocked up and ended up Glasgow way instead, on our way to Oban to camp for the night before heading on to Mull.
Thank you... my Dad lives close to the bridges, I get to paddle the area a fair bit
Great video! I’ve done a number of those trips myself and really enjoyed revisiting with you! Thanks.
Thanks Alan😁
Hello, What day was this expedition?
Fascinating, what a great few days kayaking, thanks Bob.
Thanks😁
I interrupted Miami Grand Prix Practice 1 to watch this one 🤣 - and I’m so pleased I did - superb 👌
Thanks Norman, pleased it was worth the disruption🤣
Another first for me I have never seen a real, Rail gun. ty.
This is a first for Me I have never seen a Lighthouse being painted. ty.
....nor had I before😁
@@getwet501 It's a I never thought about it. Un-till I just saw it kinda thing.
Really enjoyed this, seeing Teesmouth from a different perspective. What are the laws regarding kayaks in shipping lanes?
Thanks😁 basically I stay out of the shipping lanes, but it's OK to cross them, but common sense says its best to wait for any ships to pass first 🤣
@@getwet501Surley an oil tanker can stop on a sixpence?😂
Thank you for taking me on this amazing trip. 😊 I'm a much less experienced paddler so expeditions like this are out of my reach (at least for now). 😅
Thank you very much😁. Enjoy your paddling in bite size chunks and you will keep progressing
I have had several nights casting your adventures to my TV. Wow I didn't know how good the kayaking was around Sky. Rum, I visited 46 years ago on the Captain Scott Schooner, camping at Dibidil bothy. This didn't come has a surprise because i knew how stunning the place is. The sea cliffs at the southern end of your Outer Hebrides trip are something else. Love your vlogs, far better than David Attenborough
Thank you very much😆 yea, it's a fantastic area
